Former Olympian Kara Grant will be touring Island schools starting today to give insight on the Olympian program heading into the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

Grant, from Stratford, recently joined the RBC Olympians Program.
The program employs current and retired Olympic and Paralympic athletes to work as community ambassadors by inspiring and promoting Olympic values like teamwork, leadership and dedication through presentations to community, client and employee groups.
“As an Islander and a two-time Olympic athlete, I have a lot of insight to share,” said the former pentathlete, who retired from competing earlier this year.
“I have been sharing inspirational messages with school age children for over a decade and my presentation is tailored to meet the needs of Island youth with a primary focus on active living and the pursuit of excellence,” said Grant. “I address what is required to be successful in any field including goal setting, hard work and commitment.”
She said a power-point presentation will also be included with photos from the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, where she competed, and a video about the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.
“I will also talk about the upcoming Olympic Torch Relay which will be passing through Prince Edward Island on Nov. 21 and 22.”
